Vacuum pressure swing adsorption or VPSA Technology is a low pressure based technology that reduces project cost for its utilization of low power. Circulation based version ( which is energy efficient) of this technology involves reduction of oxygen level with the decrease of oxygen in storage cell. This specific method of VPSA is considered as the cost effective option for reducing oxygen level of particular storage area. The term pull down time denotes the duration when the oxygen of storage cell is decreased to desired level through circulation. In this period (circulation), VPSA technique can reduce the concentration of oxygen in storage area to maximum 30% faster than during injecting period.
Injection process proves to be effective in keeping a cell in slightly over pressure condition in order to promote ultra low oxygen level ( ULO condition when the oxygen level is less than 3%) even during minor leak condition ( consult with Van Amerongen or a cool cell constructor to know more). VPSA allows one to opt for circulation or injection as per application requirement.
